“The Alberta Ag-Info Centre is receiving calls about exemptions for Alberta farmers under the federal carbon tax that will take effect in the new year,” says Dean Dyck, farm business management specialist at the Alberta Ag-Info Centre.
He says that farmers need to download and fill out the Fuel Charge Exemption Certificate for Farmers and then bring it to their supplier to get the exemption.
“If Alberta farmers would like more information, I would suggest they check out UFA’s frequently asked questions about the federal fuel charge in the province,” he adds. “As well, greenhouse operators can also apply for an exemption.”
