Harvest across Alberta is almost done with 90 per cent of the province’s crop now in the bin, the Sept. 28 provincial crop report says.
Weather was good this week with warm temperatures reported. However, the report notes there has only been incidents of mild frost in pockets around the province reported. There has not been a killing frost reported yet.
“There are reports of standing canola with green growth holding up harvest in the North West and Peace regions, as well as western counties of North East region,” the report says.
Soil moisture conditions have declined and the report notes fall rains are needed, along with near normal moisture throughout the winter and early spring, in order to prepare for next year’s planting.
