Snow and rain slowed down seeding progress in Alberta with 90 per cent of the crop now in the ground, the May 25 provincial crop report says. A week before, planting was at 71 per cent done.
Most of southern Alberta received heavy snow between May 17 to 19, the report notes. A large area of the north east and southern regions also received rain over the long weekend. Frost was reported in some ares, but the damage has yet to be determined.
Seeding happened between weather events. At 90 per cent done, progress is head of the five and 10-year averages.
