Rycroft, Alta. has been chosen as the new location for a grain elevator with G3, the Winnipeg, Man.-based company announced in a news release on Sept. 27.

The new facility will be located on a CN Rail line and have a capacity of 42,000 tonnes. Construction will begin later this year, pending final regulatory approvals, with completion expected in early 2023, the release notes.

The new elevator will be built with the same high-efficiency features as G3’s other new facilities in Western Canada, the release says. These include a loop track which can quickly load a 150-car unit train, the ability to unload a Super-B truck in less than five minutes, road access for area producers and rail links to export markets.

G3 also announced it is building a new elevator in Melfort, Sask. The company currently has 17 elevators across Western Canada and a terminal at the Port of Vancouver, which opened in 2020.
