Are You Ready to Mythbust the Seed Industry?

by | Oct 5, 2022 | GMO, Seed Speaks

We’ve all heard it multiple times across so many different news functions: Fake news! Fake news is defined as fabricated information that mimics news media content but not in organizational process or intent — and it’s becoming more difficult to decipher.

Though fake news isn’t a new concept, with news at our fingertips daily, it’s important to know how to decipher fact from fiction. According to Pew Research Center, about 64 per cent of American adults say fabricated news stories cause a great deal of confusion about the basic facts of current issues and events — and only 39 per cent confidentially believe they can separate true news from fake news.

How can you decipher truth from lies, especially when the fiction is being spread so fast with the aid of social media, and how can we dispel the myths for good? With confusion lining the headlines, it’s time to start correcting — especially as it concerns the seed industry and growers across the globe. The sixth season of Seed Speaks begins on Oct. 12 and is titled “Mythbusting the Seed Industry.”

Our expert panelists are going to help us understand more in-depth topics in the industry that cause confusion and teach you the best ways to start understanding how to correct misconceptions throughout and about the sector. This season will tackle subjects ranging from food safety to GMOs to organic ag to consumer trends to ag policy.

Make sure to join us Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. CDT for the first episode of season six of Seed Speaks.
