The Alberta government has appointed three new members to the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) board, an April 12 news release says.

“AFSC’s diverse board of directors ensures the organization continues to meet the needs of the province’s crop and livestock producers and agribusinesses. After experiencing drought conditions last summer, we are reminded how important proactive business risk management is for the agriculture and agri-food industries,” Nate Horner, Alberta minister of agriculture, forestry and rural economic development, says in the release.

The new board members are:

  • Andre Harpe — a crop producer from Valhalla Centre
  • Michael Howden — an accountant from Foothills
  • Ross Bricker — a cattle producer from Didsbury

Continuing board members are:

  • Kelly Smith-Fraser, board chair — a cattle producer from Pine Lake
  • Rodney Bradshaw — a primary producer from Red Deer County
  • Chioma Ufodike — a forensic accountant from Calgary
  • Renata Colic — who works in finance and investor relations from Calgary

“We are thankful for the five years of service that retiring member Jerry Bouma provided to AFSC, and the positive impact he had on the organization,” Darryl Kay, AFSC CEO, says in the release.
