Feds Give $219 million for Drought Recovery in Western Canada

The federal government has allocated $219 million through the AgriRecovery Framework to support Western Canadian farmers who have been impacted by drought conditions and wildfires, an Oct. 20 news release said.

The release noted that farmers in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan have faced a number of challenges this growing season, including drought and wildfires. The funding is meant to assist them in recovering from the tough growing season and set them to up be resilient in the face of future natural disasters and extreme weather events.

Producers can also apply for interim payments through AgriStability to help them cope with immediate financial challenges, the release said.
